You can clearly see that the non-hero side is less detailed than the hero side. |
. The painting beginns. It's always tricky to replicate a whole gray model. The original has very subtle weathering to break the uniformity of the color and I tried to replicate it. It's avoid to get something boring to the eye, something "flat".

AT-ST stop motion model - Painting
The AT-ST from Empire is a lighter gray than the Return AT-ST. The gray is very close to the one used on the AT-AT's. On the very rare production pics the AT-ST has a large baslt mark on the left ear plate. That's a make-up and it is not visible in the movie and it's no more on the actual model. My best guess is that it was added for the AT-ST vs snowspeeder scene which is not in the final cut because of the matte background issue. I didnt represented this large scar.
